Obituary of Ronald Richard Husa

Ronald R Husa passed away peacefully September 30, 2021. He was 86 years old. Ron was born on March 5, 1935, in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Martha Husa. He was the youngest of 7 children.

At age 16 Ron moved to southern California, where he worked in grocery stores and went to school. After graduation, 1954, he went into the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller in Texas until 1958. He was in the reserves until 1962.

After the Air Force, Ron returned to southern California where he met and fell in love with his true love Dorothy Serl. Ron and Dorothy married August 31, 1960. Ron worked in the grocery industry and at Kaiser Steel. Ron and Dorothy had 2 daughters, Susan and Sally. In 1974 they moved to Chico, CA. Ron continued to work in the grocery industry until 1986, when he retired. In 1987, Dorothy told him he needed to find something to keep him from being under foot all day, so he went to work for the Work Training Center as an Instructor for adult handicapped. He worked there until he retired again in 2009, after his beloved Dorothy passed away.

Ron always loved to safely shoot, and he enjoyed passing that love onto other generations. He was an instructor for the Junior Target Rifle Program at the Chico Rod and Gun Club for 40 plus years.  Ron was a lifelong Catholic and was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Divine Savior Church.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Susan Mc Sorley (Timothy) and Sally Husa, his 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Madelaine Fitch (Sean) and their 2 sons, Mitchell Mc Sorley (Mary), Macklin Mc Sorley, and daughter Meridith Mc Sorley. He also leaves his beloved dogs Stika and Sassy.

A Rosary will be held Friday October 8^th from 5-8 at Bidwell Chapel. A mass will be held on October 9^th at 10:00 am at Our Divine Savior Church with a graveside to follow at Chico Cemetery. Due to COVID concerns, no reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Judes Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Butte Humane Society in Ronald’s name.
