Kelli Caswell

Obituary of Kelli Anne Caswell

Kelli Anne Caswell was born April 15, 1969 to the late Patrick M. Caswell and Norma P. Caswell (Figueroa) in Inglewood CA. Her family moved to Redding CA in 1971, where Kelli would spend the next 30 years of her life.

Kelli passed away at her home in Chico, CA from cancer on January 2, 2024…just a few months shy of her 55th birthday.

Kelli graduated from Central Valley High School in 1987, with a passion for the Theatre. The Phantom of the Opera became a topic of near-religious fervor for many years. After graduating from Shasta College a couple years later, Kelli began working in retail: first with ShopKo and then with Target, ultimately becoming a Team Leader in the food court.

Her career really took off though, when she began working for PG&E, just like her mom. Kelli’s friendly energy was appreciated by customers and co-workers alike. Her most recent supervisor said, “Kelli was the ideal employee. She never hesitated to jump in and help…or to stay late to get things done.” Kelli was with PG&E for over 20 years.

Kelli never did find her soul-mate, but she always had her mom to adventure through life with. As her tastes shifted toward Music, the two of them often found themselves planning their next trip to see Josh Groban, Neil Diamond, or Michael Buble in concert. Kelli may have been part of more official fan clubs than anyone else in Butte County. Fan paraphernalia graced every room in her apartment…and it is a wonder how the refrigerator door stayed attached due to the ton of magnets so desperately clinging to it.

In addition to Theatre and Music, Kelli was a Movie/TV fanatic. Her cousin Tim recalls fondly the evening she introduced him and his wife, Brenda, to the Mandolorian series. Knowing they’d not likely ever make the time to watch it themselves…she insisted on binging through all the important parts of the whole first season in that one setting. “This is the Way…Kelli’s Way.”

Having such passions for the arts and celebrity, she was a wicked Trivia Master. She LOVED telling the story about how she’d whip college-educated Tim from Ashland every time they’d play Trivial Pursuit. Poor sap never had a chance!

It would be tragic to pass over her most passionate obsession of all…PURPLE! Car, office chair, living room furniture. Just about every square foot was graced by her favorite color.

Kelli is survived by her mother, Norma Caswell, and by her 4 cousins and their extended families. She also left behind her ‘second Mom’ and dear friend, Jeannie. Over the last few weeks of her life, the family took turns coming from Oregon to provide her care, allowing her to remain in her home with her precious cat, Pippa, until she passed away in her sleep.

Interment will be at Cottonwood Cemetery, Friday, January 12 at 3PM.
