Obituary of Gabrielle Lorraine Frederick

Gabrielle (Gayle) L. Frederick

Gabrielle Lorriane Frederick was born April 23, 1926 in Lowell, MA to George and Lena (Morin) Beaudoin. She passed away on Jan. 8, 2024 in Chico, CA at the age of 97.

As the oldest of nine children growing up, family was always the biggest part of Gayle’s life. She met her true love, John Robert Frederick, during WWII at a USO dance in Lowell. They married two weeks after the war ended and began growing their family. In the mid 1940’s, John worked for Pacific Telephone Company and was transferred back and forth from Yuba City, CA to the Sacramento, CA area. As they raised their three children, Gayle heavily involved herself and supported their clubs and hobbies and was even a 4-H Community Leader. Aside from raising a loving family and being an involved parent, she and John spent time traveling all over the US. Frequently visiting Maui for a few months at a time, the East Coast and Lake Tahoe. She also found time for a career, working Weinstocks Department Store and Osier’s before finding her real passion for interior design, which she did for nearly 20 years.

Gayle and John settled in Paradise, CA in 1970, where she promptly became an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Gayle even became a Eucharistic Minister, counted money, brought communion to the sick, participated in many fundraisers, and was even on the committee for building the existing church. She also found time to be a member of Agenda Club and volunteer at Paradise Hospital Auxiliary. But she always had time for her growing family and hosted weekly Sunday dinners. She always had a pool and loved to swim every day.

After Johns passing in 1994, Gayle was lucky to find another love of her life in 2008, Anthony “Rod” Rodregues. Until his passing in 2015, they traveled all over the US in Rod's motor home, went on many cruises and traveled overseas. One of their trips was a three-week excursion to Irland where they drove around the entire country.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Gertrude Gentle and Pauline Moreau; three brothers: Raymond, Paul and Marcel Beaudoin; and only daughter: Joan Leslie Frederick-Cabral.

She leaves behind two sisters: Vickie Coan of Lowell, MA and Connie Mercier of Wilmington, North Carolina; one brother; Ronnie Beaudoin of Boston, MA; two sons: John Mark Frederick (Karen) of Penn Valley, CA, Robert D. Frederick of Roseville, CA, son-in-law John Cabral of Durham CA; three grandsons: John J. “JJ” Frederick (Casey) of Lodi, CA, Michael A.
